14 women too many

The Disney version of family life rarely cuts it.

Truth is relationships are hard at the best of times. At worst: they are toxic.

14 women have been killed this year by their partners or husbands.

It is February 22nd.

14 beautiful women unable to make a contribution or see their families grow.

My heart is heavy.

Next week I’m attending an inaugural bloggers forum hosted by the amazing Nappy Collective.

Honoured to be handpicked, they chose blogs with “integrity and an engaged community.” (you guys rock for the record).

Last night, the fearless Derryn Hinch had me back on his new show on Foxtel to talk about the domestic violence epidemic. It’s an issue he has been passionate about for many years.

So here’s a taste of Live TV… talking the big issues with Derryn Hinch.

During next week’s forum I’ll be lucky enough to hear from The Australian of the Year Rosie Batty, Detective Superintendent Rod Journing, Giaan Rooney and Sandra Jacobs from the Nappy Collective.

I’ll also get to meet some top class bloggers and journos trying to make a difference.

The idea is to collaborate and find some fresh, innovative ways to keep the conversation moving ahead of the old, tired dialogue.

So …. over to you, what do you believe will help stem this terrible cultural problem in our beautiful country?

    • Claire Linton-Evans I’ve shared this on my book website Climbing the Ladder in Heels – we need to raise awareness of the suburban barbarism…
    • Sara Trenerry Well done Mart, Anne and Derryn.

Martine raising the issue is positive & motivating. Thank you.
